Vodafone with many other private operators won 3G spectrum in the 3G auction held last year, while government mobile operator BSNL & MTNL did not take part in auction instead they were provided with spectrum well in advance and had to match the highest bidder in 3G auction
Tata Docomo was the first private mobile operator to Launch its 3G services commercially.
